On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, around 5:20 a.m., a black 2016 Range Rover was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Hayvenhurst Avenue when it ran the red light and collided with a 2018 Toyota Camry, traveling eastbound on Nordhoff Street. The Range Rover then collided with a gray Honda Civic and white Toyota Tacoma, traveling westbound Nordhoff Street.

The force of the multi-vehicle collision caused the Range Rover to continue in a northwest direction north of Nordhoff Street before coming to rest. Two male suspects exited the black Range Rover and fled from the scene in a northbound direction, failing to stop, render aid or identify themselves as required by law. This multi-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality and moderate injuries to the other victims involved.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the driver of the gray Honda dead at scene. The driver was a female approximately 56-years-old and her identity will not be released until next of kin has been notified. She had a male passenger inside her vehicle that was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver of the white Toyota Camry was the sole occupant. She was treated at scene for complaint of pain.

The driver of the white Toyota Tacoma was the sole occupant. He did not sustain any visible injuries from the collision.

Suspect-1-Driver is described as a male that stands between 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing between 160-170 pounds. He was seen wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, black shoes, and white cap.

Suspect-2-Passenger is described as a male that stands between 5 feet 11 to 6 feet tall and weighing between 190-200 pounds. He was seen wearing a dark track jacket, blue jeans, and black shoes.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

Glendale police have released new video showing a car full of teenagers leading officers on a chase across a schoolyard.

They arrested four teenagers Thursday.

Officers said they stole a car and led them on a chase.

"He's going towards the school," one officer said on the dash camera video. "OK, we're going through the grass here."

At least three officers chased the suspects for 10 minutes before the driver crashed into a light pole and the teens ran from the scene.

The teenage driver sped over the sidewalk near Bayshore Mall.

"Weaving through traffic. It may have struck a car," an officer calls out on the police radio.

The stolen blue Hyundai drove through a neighborhood and back onto North Port Washington Road.

Speeds reached at least 70 mph.

At one point, the chase crossed the soccer fields and playground at Glen Hills Middle School.

"He's going through the park. He's gonna be coming out in the middle, he's going towards the school. OK, we're going through the grass here. Terminate. He's going to be coming out on range line," an officer calls out on the radio.

As the officer driving on the grass suspended his pursuit because of the danger, others picked it up on the other side.

"I'm going to reinitiate," another officer said. "He just went through a damn playground."

After racing through the neighborhood, the car crashed a few minutes later.

The four kids inside, ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old, bailed out and ran.

They were all quickly arrested.

After the car drove across the school playground, it went across Kim Giles' front yard.

"It's very scary. It's very scary," she said. "You hear about this every single day on TV. I mean at some point it has to stop. You know, because there's innocent people getting killed, innocent children getting killed, and these are children actually doing this."

No injuries were reported.

Police have not identified the teens involved.

Charges of fleeing, operating vehicle without owner's consent, first-degree reckless endangering safety and resisting an officer will be filed against the 14-year-old boy who was driving the car.

Charges of operating a vehicle without owner's consent (passenger) and resisting an officer will be filed against the three passengers.

The aftermath of the March 2021 high-speed chase that ended with a suspect slamming into a Ramsey County deputy's SUV at more than 100 mph has been released to the public, and it shows the response of multiple officers and paramedics who came to the aid of a badly injured deputy whose vehicle was on fire.

Released Monday by the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office and the Ramsey County Deputies' Federation, the video shows a New Brighton police officer and a fellow deputy run through the crash scene to help free the injured deputy.

The officers had to cut through the driver's side airbag before pulling the deputy from the vehicle. The deputy, whose face was covered in blood, suffered a broken kneecap, broken toe, fractured ribs, a bruised lung and a head injury. In the video, he could not remember that he had been driving at the time of the crash.

The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. Mar. 18 on Highway 96 at Round Lake Road in Arden Hills, with the squad car burning up after the deputy was pulled to safety.

“Earlier this year a Ramsey County Deputy aided another agency in a vehicle pursuit of a career criminal who subsequently hit the deputy’s squad car while driving in excess of 100 MPH," the federation announced. "Deputy Eddicus and Officer Kostohryz were the first to arrive on scene and extricated the injured deputy from the squad car seconds before it became fully engulfed in flames."

"Deputy Eddicus and Officer Kostohryz showed extraordinary courage, compassion, and dedication to save the life of a fellow officer, without regard for their own safety. Both serve their community every day with distinction, and we are extremely proud of them.”

The driver of the stolen Jeep was Oscar Delacruz, of St. Paul, who was charged with criminal vehicular operation causing substantial bodily harm to a peace officer, motor vehicle theft and fleeing a peace officer. He was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

According to the criminal complaint, Delacruz was spotted in the stolen Jeep at a gas station in Mounds View and fled at more than 100 mph. He fled via an exit ramp from Hwy. 10 before running a red light and crashing into the side of the deputy's squad car.

The Ramsey County squad was forced into another vehicle on westbound Hwy. 96.

Delacruz, at the time of the crash, had an active warrant for his arrest stemming from a prior fleeing incident, and his driver's license was revoked. Delacruz's rap sheet includes felony convictions for motor vehicle theft, assault, domestic assault, violating a no-contact order, fleeing police in a motor vehicle, drugs and burglary.

Houston, Texas — The Houston Police Department released body cam and doorbell video of an officer-involved shooting in which a suspect ran over a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy. Authorities said it all began around 9:30 p.m. when deputies with the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office requested assistance from the Houston Police Department in pursuit of a stolen black Volkswagen Atlas SUV as it traveled the wrong way on Hardy Road. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect, 39-year-old Omar Hernandez Lazano, ignored all signals to stop and proceeded to lead deputy constables on a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, the deputies requested assistance from HPD. Several HPD marked patrol units assisted in the vehicle pursuit, which lasted approximately 20 minutes. During the pursuit, Lazano pulled into the front yard of a home and quickly backed the vehicle into the driveway. The primary patrol unit, a Precinct 1 Constable Sergeant, blocked the driveway with his vehicle so Lazano could not pull back into the roadway and continue to flee in the vehicle.

At that point, Lazano put the vehicle in reverse and, at a high rate of speed, crashed into the home with such force that the back half of the vehicle was inside the home. Numerous deputies began to converge on the vehicle. As they did so, Lazano drove the vehicle forward at a high rate of speed and ran directly over a deputy and dragged him approximately 20 feet until Lazano struck the marked constable vehicle that blocked his path. At that time, five Precinct 1 Constable deputies and one HPD officer discharged their duty weapons, striking Lazano as he was in the driver’s seat of the crashed vehicle. Paramedics pronounced Lazano deceased. The injured deputy was transported by Life Flight helicopter to the hospital where he remains in critical, but stable condition. During the shooting, one Precinct 1 Constable sergeant was struck in the left leg by a ricocheted bullet. Paramedics treated the sergeant at the scene.

A Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputy shot and killed a man Monday morning at a Shell gas station, according to Undersheriff James VanDyken.

The incident happened around 2:45 a.m. at the Shell located on 35th Street in Galesburg.

In a news conference Monday afternoon, the sheriff's office released an audio recording of the 911 call, along with body-cam video of the incident that shows what led to the deadly shooting.

The incident started with RV Johnson, 22, of Galesburg telling staff at the Shell gas station he needed to call 911. In the recording, he's heard telling the 911 dispatcher that he wants authorities to come to the station.

When the Kalamazoo County deputy, a more than 20-year veteran on the force whose name has not been released, arrived, the situation escalated quickly. Sheriff Rick Fuller said the deputy didn't know he was going to be confronted. Johnson is seen in the body-cam video lunging at the deputy with a knife multiple times.

The deputy tells Johnson to put his weapon down multiple times and when Johnson lunges again, the deputy shoots him once.

Authorities tried lifesaving measures but Johnson died on scene.

"To talk about what levels of force are used in any circumstance, that ultimately really comes from a full investigation," said Sheriff Fuller. "We have been with the family this morning and I can tell you they are suffering this loss and this is very tragic."

Fuller said this was the first time Johnson had an encounter with law enforcement.

The involved deputy was not hurt in the incident. Michigan State Police is now handling the investigation.
