Riverside County, California — On October 18, 2023, at 7:08 p.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Palm Desert Station were dispatched to the area of Ramon Road and Robert Road in the unincorporated area of Thousand Palms to locate the suspect of a felony hit and run. Deputies arrived at the area and contacted a vehicle occupied by two subjects. While detaining the driver of the vehicle, 34-year-old Jose Eduardo Rosales Perez, the passenger, 27-year-old Kristian Galeana fired at deputies, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Galeana barricaded inside the vehicle and refused to follow commands. The Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, California Highway Patrol and additional surrounding agencies responded to assist.

One deputy was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition. Galeana, also struck by gunfire, was ultimately taken into custody. Deputies provided medical aid, and he was transported to a local hospital; he is currently in stable condition. Due to Rosales Perez’ actions and involvement during the incident he was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on three counts of attempted murder of a peace officer. On Sunday October 22, 2023, Riverside County Sheriff’s investigators identify the second suspect of the deputy involved shooting as 27-year-old Kristian Galeana, resident of Thousand Palms. Galeana was booked in absentia at the John Benoit Detention Center on three counts of attempted murder of a peace officer; however, he remains hospitalized. The deputy also remains hospitalized and is showing improvement.

Queens, New York — On Thursday, April 13, 2023, at approximately 3:44p.m., 59-year-old Richard Moncrieffe was observed by civilian witnesses acting erratic and in possession of a knife in front of 89-62 164th Street, Queens, the First Presbyterian Church. He was approached by the security guard of the church at which point Moncrieffe stabbed him in the torso. Witnesses then called 911 to report the stabbing. Following the call to 911, Police Officer Daniel Gennaro and Police Officer Garret Poliey responded to the location. When the officers arrived, Moncrieffe was seated on the front steps of the church, still in possession of the knife.

Police Officer Gennaro and Police Officer Poliey shouted to Moncrieffe for him to drop his knife, however, he rose to his feet and began to charge at the officers. As a result, Police Officer Gennaro discharged two shots from his service firearm and Police Officer Poliey discharged two shots from his service firearm. Moncrieffe was struck by the gunfire and fell to the ground. He was subsequently taken into custody and taken from the scene via ambulance to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. For his actions, Moncrieffe was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Menacing a Police Officer, Criminal Possession of a Weapon Fourth Degree, and related charges.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Approximately 23 cars were involved in two separate crashes on I-271 in Summit County on Tuesday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed, and treacherous winter weather conditions are to blame.

The first crash happened on I-271 northbound near Wheatley Road (milepost 10) in Richfield Township around 10:15 a.m., according to OSHP.

OSHP said the crash involved approximately 13 vehicles, including three commercial vehicles.

Numerous people suffered serious injuries, OSHP stated, but they are not life-threatening.

The Richfield Police Department is assisting troopers with traffic control.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is also on scene treating the roadway due to snow and icy conditions, according to OSHP.

The second crash involving 10 other vehicles happened later on I-271 northbound at milepost 11, one mile away from the first crash, also in Richfield Township.

OSHP confirmed there are no injuries reported from the second crash.

Both crashes are still under investigation, according to OSHP.

“It is believed that winter weather conditions played a role in these crashes,” OSHP stated.

I-271 north was shut down from I-77 to SR-303 until 1:45 p.m. as crews cleared the crash scene.

New London, Connecticut — On November 26, 2023, at approximately 1:52 p.m., New London police received a report of shots fired at the Americas Best Value Inn located at 380 Bayonet Street, New London. Once at that address, police were directed to Room 259. There, they spoke to a witness who stated that 42-year-old Christopher Nolan, came into the room and fired a round out of the room’s window at an unidentified party. Police also learned that Nolan had fled to the adjacent Clarion Inn Hotel. New London officers commenced a room-by-room search of the Clarion Inn looking for Nolan. Nolan was ultimately located at Room 221.

An occupant of Room 221 allowed police to enter. Once inside, officers observed Nolan pressed against the window in an apparent effort to escape so as to elude arrest. Officers observed a gun in Nolan’s hand and when he turned toward them, Officer Joseph Not, Officer Annie Agnew, and Officer Seth Bolduc fired their weapons. Nolan sustained multiple gunshot wounds. New London officers immediately rendered medical aid to Nolan. Police recovered a revolver from the windowsill where Nolan had been standing. Emergency Medical Services transported Nolan to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was subsequently transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven. He was listed as being in good condition on Wednesday, according to the hospital.

Winter Park, Florida — On November 28, 2023 at approximately 7:26 p.m., the Winter Park Police Department responded to the Winter Park Village located at 520 N. Orlando Avenue for an armed carjacking to a valet attendant. The attendant advised he was parking a red Chevrolet Corvette when the suspect, 34-year-old Javon Hines threatened him with a gun and fled in the vehicle. Hines was located in the vehicle at the 1700 block of Lee Road and after a short foot pursuit was taken into custody. Hines is facing nine different charges for his actions on Tuesday night including armed carjacking, resisting arrest and grand theft. He’s being held in the Orange County jail with no bond set.

Records show this was Hines’ second felony arrest this year alone. He also has three additional felony cases currently open in Orange County for burglary, criminal mischief, and driving with a revoked license as a habitual offender. Back in July, investigators say he was caught behind the wheel of a black Range Rover that had been reported stolen out of Tampa. In December of last year, he admitted to officers that “he is a thief and frequently breaks in cars and steals items from them to make money” after detectives caught him committing a smash-and-grab burglary of an SUV in a Disney parking lot. They later found gloves and a ski mask in his vehicle.
