The Peachtree City Police Department has released video of a brief pursuit on Jan. 18 involving a known wanted person.

Police say that 20-year-old Jordon Johnson took off in his car when they attempted to make contact with him at the Pit Stop on Highway 74 near PDK Boulevard.

The pursuit was brought to an end by an officer using the PIT maneuver.

Johnson was wanted for DUI, driving without a license, felony fleeing/attempting to elude police in Coweta County, a probation violation in Henry County, a warrant for failure to appear on a DUI charge in Salisbury, Massachusetts, and a failure to appear on a driving without a license in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Johnson was booked into the Fayette County Jail on multiple charges.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) released dash cam and body cam video from a recent traffic stop that led to the discovery of dozens of illegal immigrants packed inside the cab of a truck.

The incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on January 11 in Laredo, Texas.

A Texas DPS Trooper stopped a white truck without a trailer on IH-35 near mile marker 30.

After the vehicle came to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway, Texas DPS says that the truck driver “immediately fled on foot into a brushy area.”

When the trooper searched the truck, he found 28 individuals inside the cab.

The truck driver, later identified as 24-year-old Houston resident Dartavious Raytrell Dixon, was apprehended.

Dixon was charged with 28 felony counts of human smuggling and evading arrest. He was booked into the Webb County Jail.

All of the individuals found inside the cab of the truck were referred to U.S. Border Patrol.

The incident is under investigation by Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division.

On January 11, 2022, Detective Kip Peterson learned that a 2018 Dodge Journey was stolen from a home and received information that John Herring was the individual that committed the theft.

On January 12, 2022, Detective Peterson received information that the stolen vehicle may be in the Marion Oaks area. K-9 Cpl. Batts responded to the area, located the vehicle, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Herring, who was driving the stolen vehicle. refused to stop and attempted to flee from Cpl. Batts. In response, Cpl. Batts initiated a short pursuit which he brought to its conclusion by conducting a perfect PIT maneuver.

Herring, who did not have a valid driver’s license, was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Herring has been charged with Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Fleeing to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer, and No Valid Driver’s License.

*Citizens, we just want to remind you to please always lock the doors of your vehicles and never leave valuables or keys inside of your vehicle.

Unfortunately, Herring was able to steal this vehicle because the doors were unlocked and the keys were inside. Do not make it easy for thieves!
