SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco police held their required town-hall meeting after SFPD fatally shot and killed a man at San Francisco International Airport who allegedly brandished replica guns.

Police released video from the Jan. 20 incident, including police-worn, body-camera footage. The shooting of Nelson Szeto, 37, is being investigated by California State Attorney General Rob Bonta's office. Police are characterizing the event as a 'suicide by cop.'

At Monday's virtual presentation, SFPD Commander Paul Yep said, "At one point, Mr. Szeto told officers to shoot him." Yep continued to say Szeto said things like, "center mass," adding, "make sure you aim," and also, "Thank you for your service. I respect you guys." Yep said Szeto also apologized, stating several times that he was sorry.

Yep said officers reiterated that they did not want to shoot the man. Crisis negotiators worked to deescalate the situation. Police also used less than lethal ammunition before firing live rounds.

SFPD were initially called for reports of a man who was acting erratically just outside the international terminal's BART entrance.

Before the shooting, Szeto allegedly pulled out what appeared to be a real gun and a knife. The guns ended up being airsoft guns, which fire plastic pellets. These type of replica firearms normally have orange tips, but in this case they did not.

The department said Szeto had already placed one airsoft gun and the knife down when he was shot and killed by SFPD officers. Police said four officers opened fire when he raised one of those guns towards officers. Police show various angles from the incident.

Police have identified the involved SFPD officers as officers Erik Whitney, Oliver Lim, Steven Uang, and David Wakayama.

The elderly Korean American man who was attacked inside his own store is speaking out.

A customer who refused to pay attacked Ki Tae Lee, 66, on Saturday inside his store in Brooklyn, ABC 7 New York reports. CeFaan Kim, a reporter for ABC 7 New York, posted video footage of the attack on Twitter.

In the video, the customer throws items off the store counter. Lee confronts the customer who begins punching Lee.

“He was saying some sort of curse words and derogatory things, but I can’t say exactly what they were,” Lee told ABC 7 New York.

It is not clear yet if this incident is a hate crime. Hate crimes against Asians have increased by 361 percent in New York City this past year, NBC News reports.

Lee says this isn’t the first time the store has been attacked. Last month, someone broke the store’s glass window and told the owners to go back to their country.

HOUSTON – Nearly one month later, Houston police released body camera video from an officer-involved crash that killed a 75-year-old man.

The crash happened on Dec. 26, 2021, in the 4600 block of N Shepherd Drive.

Houston police say officer Christopher Cabrera’s patrol vehicle crashed into another driver’s car.

The man behind the wheel of that Cadillac CTS was 75-year-old Charles Payne.

KPRC 2 spoke to Charles’ son Kevin Payne in December, and he told us his dad had just left church.

“I was at home and HPD called and they notified us that he was involved in a car wreck with a police officer,” Kevin said.

Charles was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Nearly one month later, body camera video was released showing part of officer Cabrera’s response to the crash.

“I mean the airbag kind of hit me,” Cabrera said. “It hit my vest, but my seatbelt was on though. And, is he okay?”

Seconds later, you can hear the officer ask again about the driver’s condition.

“Is he like life-threatening,” he asked.

A first responder on the scene asked the officer if he needed treatment, telling him he looked woozy.

“Yea, I just want to make sure he’s okay,” Cabrera responds. “It happened pretty quick.”

He denies treatment, and eventually, he’s asked to sit down.

“I’m still trying to figure out what happened,” Cabrera could be heard saying on the video.

Cabrera was then taken to hospital with minor injuries. Days later, he was relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

Charles’ family said they want accountability.

“My father was turning off Shepherd onto Thornton,” Kevin said. “He couldn’t have been speeding (while) turning, so someone had to be speeding for him to be killed in an impact hit like that.”

HPD said their investigation is ongoing.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The city Prosecutor’s Office said two Honolulu police officers were justified last week in shooting a 48-year-old man accused of running at them with a knife.

At a news conference Monday, city Prosecutor Steve Alm released police body cam and surveillance video of the shooting that shows officers trying to get suspect Ricky L. Kaleopaa to drop the knife. Officers ordered him to drop it at least 25 times before he runs toward them, the video shows.

“He just charges them, really quickly. At that point, he was maybe 10 feet away,” Alm said. “They had no choice but to shoot. The officers in this case did everything right.”

Kaleopaa was critically injured in the shooting and remains hospitalized.

CENTERVILLE, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities are searching for the suspects who robbed and assaulted a store clerk in Fresno County.

The crime happened on January 13 at the Circle C Market on Kings Canyon in Centerville.

Surveillance video shows a man and a woman with a gun going toward the employee, forcing the clerk behind the counter.

The man then ordered the clerk to get down before hitting her on the head.

As the man stole cash from the register, a third suspect walked in.

All three eventually ran from the store before taking off in a car.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

On Jan. 14 around 4 p.m., the victim left Dr. Z’s dispensary near 71st and Memorial.

According to police, as he got to his car, a black man and a lighter skinned man approached the victim and tried to take his medical marijuana and personal items.

Police say one of the men pointed a pistol at the victim’s face.

Businesses in the area say that there is a lot of foot traffic near the dispensary, but they’ve never seen an armed robbery attempt before. Businesses said they are concerned that the people who tried to rob the men are still out there.

Tulsa Police (TPD) Lt. Justin Ritter told FOX23 that the video shows the victim fighting the gunman off.

“Second suspect comes up from behind, produces a pistol, points it at the victim ... victim fights them off. They don’t get his property and run away,” Ritter explained.

Ritter said that while the victim was fortunate that none of his property was stolen, TPD strongly advises victims of a robbery to comply.

“If there’s a gun pointed at you, you’re struggling and fighting, and the gun could go off,” Ritter explained.

The brazenness of the crime is what concerned Ritter.

“These guys were confident enough to commit this during the daylight, so that’s alarming to us,” Ritter said. “Another reason why we want to get [the suspects] off the streets so they don’t try this again.”

Tulsa police are asking for the public’s help to identify the two men.

Sickening video shows a man violently slugging a tot in a Harlem restaurant — and the NYPD is asking the public’s help in identifying the abuser, cops said.

The footages shows the unidentified attacker walk into the Red Star restaurant at 147th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard in Manhattan carrying “a small child” at 5:40 p.m. Saturday, cops said.

The video then shows the man dump the little victim on the floor and “strike the child causing the child to fall to the ground,” police said in a statement.

“The adult male then puts the child in a stroller and exited the location on foot in an unknown direction,” police said.

Cops were alerted to the assault when someone from the restaurant called 911. The man and child were gone when cops arrived, but police discovered the surveillance video.

The child’s age and gender were unknown.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Tuesday released a video of a December incident that shows a man ambushing two officers with a knife before they shot him in the back.

Deonta Williams, 20, was charged with two counts of attempted murder following the unprovoked attack at about 1:15 am. Dec. 1, 2021, in the 1400 block of Fairfield Avenue. Williams told dispatchers and officers at the scene that he was being harassed by another man.

The video shows Williams pointing in the direction where he said the man went. After the IMPD officers walked away, Williams stabbed one officer in the chest and another in the neck.

Video footage shows both officers giving Williams commands to get on the ground before firing their guns at him multiple times.

The officers held Williams at gunpoint before additional officers arrived at the scene.

Police who arrived rendered aid to the two wounded officers and Williams.

One of the officers sustained a significant stab wound across his neck and received life-saving care at the scene, the video says.

Court documents said the officer with a neck injury suffered a lacerated outer jugular vein and underwent surgery at Eskenazi Hospital. The officer with the chest wound was treated at Eskenazi and released.

Williams received treatment for multiple gunshot non-life threatening wounds at IU Health Methodist Hospital.

Prosecutors say Williams was at Eskenazi when he told an IMPD detective that he lured the officers into an ambush because wanted to kill one of them before they could kill him.

“I was gonna kill an officer," Williams confessed to Sgt. Michael Duke, according to the affidavit. “He said he didn't want to kill a lot of officers, he just wanted to kill one.”
