On December 18, 2021, around 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a radio call for a domestic violence suspect at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Wall Street.

While the officers were at the location, the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Rosendo Olivio Jr., approached the officers armed with a folding knife in one hand and a butane torch lighter in the other. Olivio was yelling profanities and threatening to burn down the apartment building.

Olivio was ordered to drop the knife; however, he ignored the officer’s commands and continued to approach them while still holding the knife, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. Olivio was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced Olivio deceased at the scene.

The knife Olivio was armed with a knife was recovered at the scene.

No officers were injured during the incident.

An independent investigative unit in the Maryland Attorney General’s office released a seven-minute video Wednesday showing a shootout between Montgomery County Police officers and 27-year-old Osman Sesay of Silver Spring, who died as a result.

The video is graphic, but as part of a newly formed unit charged with investigating fatal encounters between law enforcement officers and civilians, the attorney general’s mandate is to increase transparency with the public.

Sesay was shot and killed by police on December 29, 2021, after he opened fire on officers during an early morning traffic stop following a shooting at a nightclub in Silver Spring.

On December 18, 2021, around 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a radio call of a man armed with a knife in the 900 block of East Adams Boulevard. When the officers arrived, they saw the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Margarito Lopez, armed with a butcher knife. Lopez was ordered to drop the knife; however, he ignored the officer’s commands. An officer fired a 40 Millimeter Less-Lethal Launcher foam projectile at Lopez, which was ineffective. Lopez continued in the direction of the officers, still ignoring the officer’s commands to drop the knife. At that time, a second 40 Millimeter Less-Lethal foam projectile was fired, followed by an Officer-Involved Shooting. Lopez was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel transported Lopez to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The knife Lopez was armed with was recovered at the scene.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The Stockton Police Department released video Wednesday of a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened last month in front of the department’s headquarters.

The shooting happened on December 8 around 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot in front of the Stockton Police Department Operations Building at 22 E. Market Street. Stockton police said they responded to reports of the suspect firing off shots in the parking lot.

Police say they got two calls about a man in the police department’s parking lot reportedly firing a gun. A total of six officers then went out through the front lobby doors to investigate.

Officers say the suspect started walking towards them and screaming. He was armed with a handgun, police say.

The video, which can be seen in full below, released on Facebook by the police department features surveillance footage, body cam footage and dispatch audio.

The surveillance footage from the building shows a shirtless man with his hand in the air firing what appears to be a gun in front of the lobby doors.

Bodycam footage captured officers demanding the suspect “get on the ground” and “let go of your gun.” at the end of the first body cam clip, the suspect is seen standing up and charging in the direction of the officers.

A different officer’s body cam captured the same moments from a different angle. Shortly after the suspect began charging toward them, the officers began firing off several shots, striking the suspect multiple times before he falls to the ground.

Police say the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified by a San Joaquin County coroner as Angelo Weitz, 40, of Stockton.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

“Unfortunately, we’re seeing more cases like this, not just in our area — whether it be ambushes or assaults on police officers or their building or operations buildings. We’ve been seeing an increase of this really nationally and it’s extremely concerning,” Stockton Police Chief Eric Jones said in December.

The suspect’s gun was also recovered at the scene with one bullet left inside.

Town officials released video footage late Wednesday that shows a York Police Department officer using a K-9 to subdue local pediatrician Stephen Brennan during a traffic stop more than two years ago.

The release of the footage comes about a week after Brennan’s attorneys announced their client had reached a $325,000 settlement agreement with the town and Patrolman Jonathan Rogers, who had released the dog during the encounter on Sept. 20, 2019.

In a joint statement released with the footage, York Town Manager Steve Burns and Acting Police Chief Owen Davis said Rogers “simply did his job to keep York a safe place.”

Brennan was 63 at the time of the incident and ran Yorkids Pediatrics. Brennan suffered multiple injuries, including dog bites that his attorneys said required months of follow-up and wound care.

What dash-cam reveals
The 21-minute video, which was released in response to a public records request from Seacoast Media Group, includes audio and dashboard camera video. There was no body-worn camera used during the encounter, Burns said.

Rogers pulled over Brennan for allegedly flashing his high beams. The video shows Brennan stepped out of his vehicle before Rogers’ cruiser had fully stopped.

As Brennan walked toward the police cruiser, Rogers shouted at him to put his hands up. Brennan complied at first, but he continued walking while Rogers yelled three times for him to stop.

Brennan stopped for a moment with his hands raised, then he dropped them and turned back toward his own vehicle. Rogers left his cruiser and approached Brennan, telling him to stop moving. Rogers had his gun drawn and pointed at Brennan.

Brennan turned again toward Rogers, who repeatedly warned that he would sic the K-9 on him if he did not turn around and comply.

After Rogers told Brennan six times to get on the ground, Brennan dropped to his knees. Rogers told Brennan to get on the ground one more time as the K-9 ran toward Brennan and knocked him to the ground.

No more than 40 seconds elapsed between when Rogers’ patrol car came to a stop on scene and when his K-9 can be seen in the video running at Brennan.

While Brennan was on the ground with the police dog on top of him, Rogers told him to get on the ground again and put his hands behind his back. Brennan rolled onto his stomach as the dog appeared to continue biting down on his leg. At the same time, Rogers told Brennan to stop resisting.

Rogers was on the ground atop Brennan while the K-9 continued subdue him. Rogers eventually pulled the dog off of Brennan, who remained on the ground with his hands behind his back.

The K-9’s engagement with Brennan lasted about 80 seconds.

Seattle, Washington State — The Seattle Police Department released video of the incident, showing a K9 team, an SPD patrol officer, and a patrol sergeant contacting the burglary suspect. The video shows the suspect, who was armed with a machete and a knife, fatally stabbing Police Dog Jedi before an officer opens fire, fatally striking the suspect. Around 2:45 PM, the resident of a home in the 2200 block of South Eddy called 911 and reported a man armed with a knife was breaking into their home. A K9 team arrived on the call, saw the suspect, and began pursuing him as he fled on foot. In the 6700 block of Swift Avenue South, a police dog engaged with the suspect. The suspect then fatally stabbed the dog and injured an officer in an ensuing struggle. Another officer arrived on scene and fired at the suspect, fatally striking him.

Las Vegas police played a 911 call and showed police body camera footage of an armed burglary suspect who was fatally shot by a Metro police officer last Thursday in the year’s first officer-involved shooting.

Metro Assistant. Sheriff John McGrath held a news conference Monday afternoon to release details of the deadly Jan. 6 encounter in a southeast Las Vegas neighborhood.

Police identified Ricardo Antonio Otero, 30, as the suspect who was shot after a confrontation with police on Broadbent Boulevard, near Cherry Street.

McGrath said police received a 911 call about a burglary in progress.

“The caller stated his son Ricardo Antonio Otero was armed with a knife and attempting to break into the house,” McGrath said.

McGrath said Otero was spotted by police walking along Broadbent and when a pedestrian stop was attempted, Otero refused to listen to police, dropped his backpack, pulled out a large hunting knife, and began walking toward Officer Jason Guerra who yelled seven times for Otero to “drop the knife.”

Otero’s body-worn camera footage showed the incident unfold up until the point of the shooting.

“Otero then charged at Officer Guerra while holding the large knife in his hand. Officer Guerra discharged his duty weapon four times, striking Otero causing him to fall to the ground,” McGrath said.

Otero died at the hospital. McGrath said Otero’s father told police that his son had some mental health issues. Guerra, 40, has been with Metro since 2015.

AKRON, Ohio. The Akron Police Department released Body Camera (3) 911 call pictures and details about an Officer Involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on December 23- 2021 at approximatively 3:45 am at 26th Street SW.

A woman called to report that her estranged husband identified as 58-year-old James W. Gross 58 years old broke into her home.

This happened after seven previous incidents, a restraining order had been filed against Gross the day before in court, the woman says. Police officer arrived Less than five minutes into the call.

As police assess the situation, officer outside heard the wife screams.

"He broke my door open," she yells in the 911 call.

Police decide against sending in a K9 decide to enter the home knowing that the woman report that the man is was armed with a baseball bat and knife.
Officer went upstair broke the bedroom door and saw the ex-husband holding a knife to the throat of the woman, an officer tasers Gross making him falls but continues to hold the woman at knifepoint. That’s when a second officer shot Gross, police said, hitting him twice.
